How do you desire to share your life with God?

What are the places that you could, or already do, share your life with God?

Are there places you don’t want to include God in your life? Why?

What makes it difficult to enjoy God without feeling a need to “do something for God”?

What would make “doing with/for God” life giving and fun?

God’s purpose in creating humanity was to be able to enjoy a relationship with every single individual in the universe. He made humans to share life with Him. If we consider the question, “Why did God create humans?” relationship with God is not the only possible answer.

Early Mesopotamian creation myths proposed that humanity was created to serve the gods and to do the work that the “lesser gods” were tired of doing. Even today it is common to think that people were created for God’s benefit and that our “job” is to serve God.

But the Genesis account of creation portrays a God who enjoys being with humankind and invites them to join Him in caring for creation, not because He needs their help, but rather to give each person something to do together with Him. When humankind is sent out of the garden, God goes with them. God is a God of relationship and truly loves, enjoys, and delights in being with each person.

Humanity was created, in the image of God, to be relational, to enjoy “with-ness,” especially with-ness with God. The restoration of humanity’s brokenness is a return to the relational health and with-ness that God had in mind when God created them.
